Our Philosophy

Behind everything we do is the belief that we can make our world a better place.

We focus on producing high quality coffee in an environmentally sustainable way while honoring the dignity of those who work for us. Our plantation is relatively small as coffee farms go, however, we have found that the farm has become a gathering place for people from the furthest reaches of the globe…all with a common interest in this simple agricultural product.

Our purpose is to bring people from all walks of life together and provide them hope, using coffee as our common ground.

The Spirit Mountain Standard

So many of our long time roasting partners value the ultra smooth characteristic of our Caribbean high mountain coffees.

Conditions that make the quality of coffee cultivated at Spirit Mountain so special include the following.

The slower a coffee cherry ripens, the denser the ‘seed’ will be and the higher the quality of the coffee bean.

The geographical location of the DR, being located so far North of the equator, makes for colder winder temps while coffee is ripening.

The high elevations of the farm and the majestic shade canopy also account for improving quality.

The Cordillera Central receives consistent precipitation and cloud cover which also adds to the perfect climate for growing super high-quality coffee.

Our coffees are dried on raised African beds towards the middle of the farm, allowing for slower drying times and improving quality.

All prices listed below are per pound (16 oz./ 454g).

Our coffees are sold in 60lb sacks for ease of handling. Grain Pro liners are used on all our exported coffees.

500g green coffee samples are available upon request at $20/ sample, prices includes shipping.

Natural Process
Melon – Honeydew – Green Grape – Mandarin

Natural Process

This is a blend of Caturra, Parainema, Typica and Bourbon harvested from our farm.
Immediately after harvesting, we spread out the coffee cherries to dry on African Beds.  Drying natural processed coffee at Spirit Mountain takes close to three weeks.
Pulped Natural / Red Honey
Subtle Guava – Pineapple

Pulped Natural / Red Honey

This is a blend of Caturra, Parainema, Typica and Bourbon harvested from our farm.

Processed using a Wet Mill to remove the cherry. We then dry the coffee beans over a couple of weeks on African Beds with the thin layer of fruit on the beans. Drying honey processed coffee takes around two weeks.

This is considered “red honey” because it is dried under semi-shade.

Washed Estate Blend
Vanilla – Pear – Macadamia

Washed Estate Blend

Our regular washed coffee is a blend of 4 other varieties that are grown on the farm, Caturra, Typica, Bourbon and Catimore.

Washed Select – Geisha
Cream – Raspberry – Peanut

Washed Select – Geisha

his is our third season offering a Dominican Geisha to our roasting partners.  Spirit Mountain was the first farm in the DR to cultivate this special coffee.

This Geisha came from Boquete Panama and has been planted high on the farm, between 4,000 – 4,500 feet elevation.  The cold winter temperatures high on the farm, make our Geisha unique.

Washed Select – Parainema
Vanilla – Nougat – Mild Citrus

Washed Select – Parainema

Parainema has become the primary varietal that we cultivate at the farm.   It has a smooth cup and subtle tasting notes which are highlighted by the high elevations of the farm, while being semi-resistant to Rust. Parainema cups similar to a Pacamara.

Purchase Coffee

Our Partners

Whether we are sharing a cup of our coffee with a foreign dignitary, a neighboring farmer or one of our long time partners, it’s always a special occasion.

Being a coffee farmer has allowed me to pull up a chair at some very interesting tables and facilitated the beginning of some unbelievable friendships. If you’ve purchased a sack of our coffee, we consider you a friend and partner in our mission to bring hope to people in need. We do not take it lightly when a potential client reaches out to us after having received a referral from a current friend and/or partner.

We want your experience as a partner to be one that feels more like an encounter with an old friend than a business deal. It’s not uncommon that I or my wife, Krista, would deliver your coffee with our daughters! They all love the authentic connections we have with each of you and actually get excited when they get to load and unload several tons of green coffee as it generally means they get to enjoy a cup of coffee with one of you. Most of the partners below have actually visited Spirit Mountain.

Socially Responsible

We seek to care for the communities near Spirit Mountain by investing deeply in education via the Doulos Discovery School and the Manabao public school.

Our coffee is sustainable grown, which means that we take of not only the biodiversity of the earth, but the water sources and communities surrounding our plantation.
